Power Mirrors

How the Circuit Works

The left and right power mirrors are controlled by the power mirror switch. Each mirror has two reversible motors: one motor moves the mirror up and down, while the other motor moves the mirror left and right. The power mirror switch contains two switches to control mirror adjustment, and a switch to select the left or right power mirror. With the ignition switch in ON (II), battery voltage is supplied to the power mirror switch. The mirror selection switch directs battery voltage from the two direction switches to either the left or right power mirror. Each direction switch is used for more than one function.

Mirror Up

When the UP edge of the up/down switch is pressed, battery voltage is supplied from one of the UP switch contacts to one of the up/down motors with the mirror selection switch in the left or right position. The up/down motors receive ground through the opposite UP switch contact of the up/down switch. This tilts the selected mirror up.

Mirror Down

When the DOWN edge of the up/down switch is pressed, battery voltage is supplied from one of the DOWN switch contacts to one of the up/down motors with the mirror selection switch in the left or right position. The up/down motors receive ground through the opposite DOWN switch contact of the up/down switch. This tilts the selected mirror down.

Mirror Left

When the LEFT edge of the left/right switch is pressed, battery voltage is supplied from one of the LEFT switch contacts to one of the left/right motors with the mirror selection switch in the left or right position. The left/right motors receive ground through the opposite LEFT switch contact of the left/right switch. This tilts the selected mirror left.

Mirror Right

When the RIGHT edge of the left/right switch is pressed, battery voltage is supplied from one of the RIGHT switch contacts to one of the left/right motors with the mirror selection switch in the left or right position. The left/right motors receive ground through the opposite RIGHT switch contact of the left/right switch. This tilts the selected mirror right.

Mirror Defoggers

With the ignition switch in ON (II), battery voltage is supplied to the mirror defogger switch. With the mirror defogger switch in ON, battery voltage is supplied to both mirror defoggers, causing them to heat up to remove any fog from the mirrors. The opposite side of each defogger is connected directly to ground.
